9 Days stay in Hong Kong

Spending Christmas in HK
The secret escape at HK is no longer a secret. Ofcourse when my hubby discovered that I went to HK without him he got mad at me. I immediately hug him and told him I have pasalubong, medyo nawala ng konti ang galit nya.
This trip should be our honeymoon,  when we arrived in HK my menstruation came, wrong timing.
So how did we survive in HK for 9 days with a 20K budget? Excluding Airfare, Travel Tax and Terminal Fee.
Accomodation: FREE courtesy of hubby's boss :D (laking tipid namin)
Departure at NAIA 3, 5am December 23, 2012

Day 1: Departure in Ph and Arrival in HK

The weather outside of the airport was freezing cold, 15 degrees that time. We immediately wore our jacket, scarf and gloves.

They gave us an intruction/sketch on how to find their Condo,I'm proud to say that it is one of my talent. I'm good in directions and I love reading maps, sketch and instructions. Follow the instructions and ask someone if you feel you're not sure. It was located at Caribbean Coast, Tung Chung. They also lend us their octopus card, but we'll be the one to refill it, abuso na kung ipapahiram pa nila na may laman, hahaha, though meron laman na tig50Hkd. We find the place in less than 30 minutes. It is a super long walk from City Gate Outlet.

We bought HK dollar from them too rate of 1Hkd=5php, hubby's boss is a pilot based in HK that's why they had their own pad. They are the one who offered their condo and we took it without hesitation, choosy pa ba eh libre na nga. They left the money amounting to 5,000 Hkd, mineral water, toothpaste, and some canned goods (spam, corned beef and tuna flakes to be specific). Na-touch ako sobra.

Ito ang bumungad sa amin ni hubby (the money was inside the envelope, for documentation purposes, nilabas ko sa envelope) saan ka pa?

Living room

We had breakfast at Mcdo, after a long walk we're hungry again so hubby cooked spam for our brunch.

Spam so yummy :)

Hubby took this photo.
After we had our brunch I decided to sleep, napagod maglakad. From City Gate, walking distance lang naman ang Caribbean Coast. I enjoyed the cold weather and when I woke up it is past 6pm already. So half of Day 1 was spent on bed tsk... tsk..., hubby didn't sleep he enjoyed watching movies on youtube because the internet connection was darn fast. As in walang buffing at hang.

We went to City Gate to buy some goods we left the place past 7pm.

I need one! The jacket I brought was not sufficient for winter days in HK :)

End of the world? Panic buying ang peg nila.
Dinner time. Diet mode. :)

Bought socks, warmer, shirts and bubble jacket.

Day 4 at Jumbo Kingdom
It is one of the tourist spot indicated in HK Map so I included it in our itinerary. A littlebit of dismay because it is captivating in the photos I saw in our map. But since we're there already we just enjoyed the view and the free boat transfer to the Jumbo Kingdom, it is a floating restaurant. When we went inside the restaurant the paintings were amazing, I ordered coffee so we can sit for a while.
How to get there? It is easy, from MTR  Central station ride a bus terminus to Aberdeen, from there it is less than 100 meter walk.

Day 4 expenses:

bus terminus to aberdeen- 4.90x2= 9.8

Day 5 No Itinerary. Babysitter mode.
Hubby and I were asked to babysit for 1 day because his boss had a flight and I also had a fever that day.

Day 6 Hong Kong Park
The temperature was not that cold so we decided to go first at Hong Kong Park. I love to see poinsettia everywhere, hubby love it too.
I was mesmerized to see up close these turtoise.
Checking the map where our next stop.
It was a vacation that both of us enjoyed. And my hubby said he love to go back in HK, another series of this vacation will be posted soon.
Happy reading. Smile :)

Bags Packed to Thailand 2

May 25-31, 2012 Clark to Bangkok and Chiang Mai Trip
Our flight was 4pm at Clark and we arrived 7pm in Bangkok after getting our luggages and finished at the Immigration in arrival area we quickly went to Mochit bus station.
It is very accessible at Survarnabhumi International Airport, the train is inside the airport which is a good thingfor foreigners, from Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai station where there is an interconnected train. Grab a map and the instructions are there. We took the Phaya Thai Station to Mochit Station in MRT and from Mochit Station we took the cab to Mochit bus station. Mochit Bus station is the central terminal of buses. Yes, they are centralized which I really appreciate because it is more organize. When we arrived there it was almost 8:30pm so we quickly grab a ticket, we only have 30mins left for the last trip and the next trip will be 4am the next day, we don't want to spoil our trip staying the whole night at Mochit bus station, we are starving so we bought something to eat at 7-11 inside Mochit Bus Station.
9pm last trip to Chiang Mai
From Bangkok it is a 10hour bus ride to Chiang Mai, it is located at the Northern part of Thailand. By plane 1 hour which costs regular fare of  2,000+ Baht depending on the airline, there are promo sale but I wasn't able to catch it up. Since we are on a budget trip I chose the 10hour bus ride costs 560 Baht/head a Class-A. Our budget for this trip is 10,200 pesos and changed it to US Dollars first, advise: Don't bring peso! It is better to bring US Dollars and have it change to Baht once you are in Thailand. Check in in the internet for conversion details for updated conversion rate before travelling.
7am of March 26, 2012 we arrived in Chiang Mai Mochit Bus Station, we didn't pay anything for our accommodation because my friend asked us to stay in their humble abode for free. :)
The New Chiang Mai Mochit Bus Station-- across is the Old Chiang Mai Mochit Bus station

Sanchez Family humble abode, thank you so much for accomodating us for free. :))

Kuya Butch Sanchez, fetch us from the bus station and went to their new house, they rent the house for 7,500 baht/month (check convertion rate coz it varies).
We had enough sleep in the bus so we planned first our itinerary for that day, we fixed our things first while Ate Maezar was preparing our breakfast, it's a good thing we arrived Saturday and they don't have work during the weekdays Kuya Butch and Ate Maezar are my good friends when I was in Chiang Mai 2010-2011, both of them are teachers in Thailand but in differen school. When I was done with our things I went to Ate Maezar and had some chat and updates about our lives. She suggested that we should go to Horizon Village first, they offer Buffet lunch only on Saturdays. A park with sculpted bonsai, mini zoo, place for for biking, flowers, lagoon etc. We peg nature which away from pollution and busy streets. The entrance fee: 80baht-adult; 40baht-child; Entrance with Buffet 160 baht/head and this is what I missed in Thailand the cheap buffet they offer, they called it mookatah.

Horizon Village and Resort, Sansai, Chiang Mai, Thailand
picture taking with the camel :))

Fine Dining: They offer Thai and Western Cuisine in Buffet style

On our second day, we went to Church at Abundant Grace, the venue of the Sunday service is at Lanna Hotel, Chiang Mai. After the service we went to Robinsons Airport Plaza foodcourt to eat lunch. The food was 30-35 baht. With us having lunch is Ate Mayen my buddy in everything for my 1 year stay in Chiang Mai and Ate Joy our good friend too. They are teaching pre-school in Sarasas Witaed Chiang Mai School.

Me and Hubby bought our pair of All Star Shoes so cheap mine for 350 baht, his chucks for 550 baht at that time the conversion was 1baht=1.37php a total of 1,233php for 2 pairs ;)
Original All Star: Happy coz we saved a lot :))

Our Thailand trip is not complete if we missed to try their street food. After our shopping and window shopping at Robinson Central Airport Plaza, we went to Night market at Thapae Gate.

Bought some souvenirs and pasalabong for friends. Normal prize is 5pcs for 100baht, we bargain with the vendor and got it 7pcs for 100 baht. Happy again :))

On our third day in Chiang Mai, we went to Maesa Elephant Camp to witness how the heaviest animal perform, they showcase their talent (dancing, playing footballa and painting) like a person.

Before the show, they take a bath first.
Yes! Believe it or not! They can Paint!
Dancing elephant

They are my group of friends in Chiang Mai, missed them a lot.

Dad Chana, Ian and Susie Smith. Ian and Dad Chana were my co-teachers at San Kamphaeng School where I taught for 1 year. Our trip is incomplete if I won't visit them, they've been so nice and good to me and they are like my second father.

Before our flight to Philippines we drop by at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, for window shopping and picture taking. I'll really love to go back for shopping.

Street food but it's clean :)

That trip was awesome and full of unforgettable experiences and we'll gonna treasure it forever. I'm looking forward to another trip in Thailand. Me and hubby spent 12,000 pesos for our all expenses in Thailand excluding the airfare, travel tax.
Next trip as a couple: Christmas 2012 in Hong Kong :)
